Batuan is a 5th class municipality in the province of Masbate, Philippines. It is located in Ticao Island. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 12,038 people in 2,529 households.
In 1951, the barrios of Batuan, Burgos, Gibraltar, Costarica, Panisihan, and Matabao were separated from San Fernando to form the town of Batuan.[1]
Batuan is politically subdivided into 14 barangays.
